Calling all future packaging designers! Every year, North America’s top packaging, industrial and graphic design programs participate in the Paperboard Packaging Alliance’s (PPA) Student Design Challenge (SDC). Don’t miss out! You can join the challenge as an individual or as part of a student design team – allowing for several teams from the same school to participate.
The 2018 SDC is to design packaging for the contents of a subscription box package that enhances the customer experience and can be reused for storage. A complete submission would include a box package and three inner packages for any one of the following product categories: travel-size cosmetics; on-the-go snacks; or fitness gear essentials.
To join the challenge, first download the full scenario packet. Make sure to notify the professor in charge of your school’s packaging design program. If you are participating as an individual, your professor will still need to sign the intent form; if your school is participating, your professor can submit the forms. Either way, the earlier you start, the better!
Participating in real-life hands-on competitions while you’re in school can prepare you for to secure a job in the packaging industry. Want to know what kind of competition you may be up against? Check out this year’s award winners and entries.
Winning student teams and their academic programs will receive monetary awards. Participants’ submissions are due Friday, May 25, 2018.
We hope to see your entry among the submissions! Happy designing!
