2024 Student Design Challenge Submission Form

Submit your application for the 2024 Student Design Challenge by June 7, 2024. 

Challenge Recap

Fiber-based packaging is sustainable and recyclable. To increase its use, this year's Design Challenge asks students to design new paperboard packaging for an original fresh produce product that is typically not packaged primarily in fiber-based packaging.

How to Apply

Please review the 2024 Student Design Challenge Criteria and submit all necessary elements using the form below.

Your entry should include:

  • A Prototype (50 points)
  • Design Elements (30 points)
  • Marketing Plan (10 points)
  • Final Video of Design (10 points)
  • Permission from Brand (if applicable) 

In addition, you must submit signed copies of the Certificate of Originality and Image Release Form, as well as the Graduate Advisor Form, if applicable. These forms may be downloaded from the links below:

Entry Submission

Please submit the following required documentation (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt and .pptx accepted). Please ensure your documentation includes both a marketing plan and design elements that are part of your presentation. Your prototype and dielines will be mailed in.

  • Marketing plan
    • One-page executive summary that explains: 
      • How design meets necessary requirements; 
      • Explains the design concept and functionality; 
      • Identifies the organization’s mission, the brand and dimensions;
      • Describes how the packaging can be used to help the organization achieve its goal 
      • Explain design process from concept to execution 
      • Explanation of benefits of the design functionality 
      • Does not exceed 5 pages (PPT Format Preferred)
  • Design Elements
    • Detailed Production die drawing
    • Design concept and execution
Maximum 5 files.

Please include up to five images of your project (png or jpeg accepted). These will be used on our website and social media to showcase your designs. Note: You must receive the brand's permission if using an existing brand.
