THE CHALLENGE

Contestants were challenged to design a new package that improves the perceived value of GCP Corp's products compared to competing products. Students were encouraged to update packaging graphic design, structure and functionality for one of GCP Corp.'s many dry cake mix, dry cookie mix or hot cereal products.

The goal of GCP Corp's packaging redesign is to increase consumer interest and sales among the company's target consumer: mothers of pre-teens and teens. Research also shows that mothers of pre-teens and teens are interested in purchasing products that decrease preparation time, are easy to open, are resealable, stackable and storable. Also important to this demographic are products that are recyclable and environmentally friendly, contain high quality ingredients, guarantee food safety, offer the best value, and are easy to transport.
